Anybody used this for audio?

I am big into audio, and a lot of times I will record certain sound effects in post because I can have a much more controlled environment.  Plus  I like to record my own music for my projects.  Has anybody used an audio mixer like this?

I am amazed at how low prices have gotten for these, especially for a ten track mixer.  It says that it is designed specifically with video editing in mind, and that the already captured audio can also be played out throught the mixer itself.  This would help me a tone, since I currently only have motherboard audio.  WHat do you guys think? good deaL?  Should I continue to risk my marriage like this?

BTW: I have seen it being sold between $349 and $400.

Well, I actually found something better. This mixer inlcudes it's own own board digital recorder, 2 phantom powered xlr inputs, and 16 other analg inputs. The biggest selling point of this one is that I can take it with me for recording audio, plus I can expand it later by getting the EZ8 pci ADAT optical card that can let me record up to 8 simultanious tracks. It's a little more expensive, but I say "who needs money when you got toys".

the ez bus and the ez 8 are the two things that I'm looking at.

Hey, Check out Musiciansfriend.com or I think thats it, if not search for it on yahoo or something but I have a magazine of their products and they have some nice mixers that are pretty cheap, some are around $80-$100.

Re: Anybody used this for audio?

Yeah, musicians friend is great, I get stuff from there all the time, and I think they sell the EZbus as well, however an normal mixer gives me some limitations. First of all, phanom power, a lot of cheaper mixers don't have phantom power, and that won't work. Second, USB recording/PCI recording. IF I am going to be recording multiple channels of audio, all at once, this is the only way to do it. Most of these mixers do a good job of mixing, but thats it. I need something that I can record directly into my pc at home, as well as take it on the road and have good digital recordings made of events. Thanks for your input Vampiar_Ent.

I would buy a dedicated firewire interface that has 24 bit 96mhz quality
The mixer is cool but the analog to digital conversion is primary.

MOTU 828 does a good job as does the the 2408 . . . beringer, mackie boards do fine with import. it is a tricky issue sound design . . . and video design . . . keep both a pristine as possible . . . i wouln't go with the 10-Channel Audio Mixer with Effects and USB Interface from edirol as of yet although a good idea . . . i think their ADA is cheap conversion at this point and needs further review . . . . better off going Protools and a quality makie mixer . . . mic pre amp and **** is time proven . . . edirol is a up and commer though . . . thanks for the link it is interesting

Re: Anybody used this for audio?

Looks pretty damn cool though.
Hell for $400 its worth you buyin it to get us all educated about it

LOL

Re: Anybody used this for audio?

Well, I finally did it.  I bought the Event EZbus digital mixer.  This thing is great, not only can I use it on the road as a mixer but I can also hook it up, via usb and optical ADAT to get up to a total of 10 simultanius channels being recorded in their own tracks, (I use adobe auditon previously cool edit).  I finished a documentary about stress, for a school project, and did some narration through my condensor mic, through the ezbus straight into the computer.  NOt only is there no hiss or hum from the mic, it is as crystal clear as ever.  I would definatly reccomend the ezbus to anybody that wants serious audio on a budget.  I got it for $300 on ebay.  I'll be posting my documenatary soon.
