Anybody know how about Changing a Business Name and YouTube Channels?

Hello,

I am changing the name of my sports video business and do not know how to deal with my YouTube presence.

I have a YouTube channel with the current name of my business with quite a few videos and 40+ subscribers. I would like to just change the name and YouTube URL of the channel. Thus keeping the links and videos in place.

But I do not think one can do this. So the next way is to create the new URL/Channel and then... I don't know. Can you transfer files/links/subscribers on YouTube?

I have read some articles which come close but are not slanted towards a business. I posted on the help forum but no replies. I can not find a contact number or e-mail for YouTube support.

So I am kind of wandering here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can't. That's why my 'Portrait Series' is under the old URL 'CopterraVideo'. It doesn't make sense, and is super inconvenient, but I can't lose my subscribers. If you have over 500 subscribers they sometimes let people change URLs, but for some reason that hasn't moved down yet. It's pretty clearly spelled out in their help section.

However, you can change the channel name easily by simply changing the associated Google+ page.

Hey Thanks. So by changing the channel name, the old URL would point to the page with an updated new name? That is not that bad. Now, can I create a new YouTube channel with the new URL and point it to the old page? So the existing page would be triggered by both the old and new URLs?

Kind of complex but would still work if possible.

The URL and channel name are totally separate things, and those are connected to but still somewhat separate from the Google+ page that they are attached to. If you go into your channel settings, you can click 'edit' or something next to your name, and it will give you a link to 'change on G+'. Do that, and the name will change across all products. But the Youtube URL is permanently there. As for the second option, no, there's no such redirect option that I know of. The best you could do is probably a playlist, but it wouldn't work as well. Just change the name and ignore the URL; most people don't read them anyway. Your existing subscribers will be notified the same as always, and your future ones will probably click on a video title, followed by a channel name, and never even notice the URL.
