Anybody have experience with invisible speakers? Audio Transducer?

Since this has nothing to do with mics or production I ASSUMED this thread belongs here... even though the topic is audio related, this is more about home theater or putting in whole-house music systems.

Has anybody ever experienced the sound of invisible speakers? Technically they're called audio transducers... and basically it's a speaker "motor" like the magnet and voice-coil assembly... but no cone structure.

The intriguing thing is that you can put them in the wall... completely SEALED in BEHIND the drywall... and they will resonate the drywall surface and make that perform as the speaker diaphragm. They're cheap compared to normal speakers... and some sites list them as 20-20khz +/- 3db (depending on the surface)...

The only downside I can find is that most of them don't want more then 30w peak... and they like about 10w RMS... but for MY uses that would be fine... as long as the SOUND is good. (In case you didn't realize it... your typical music experience at normal, non-club levels... is using only a few watts of amplifier power... it's the bass, driven at high levels, that requires the high amp output)...

So I'm wondering... these things SEEM like they'd be the best thing since sliced bread, and they've been around since the 1950's !!!

Do they suck or what? Are people just reluctant to embrace these things because of the odd-ball technology... or do they sound like sh*t? If they work well I can imagine how cool it would be to have a couple of them in the center of a wall that's used for a projector surface... the voices would truly originate directly from the actors.

I'm also thinking that in a garage or an application like that... that the speakers would be totally protected from any exposure at all.

It just SEEMS like I should be able to find more about these on the net... but aside from the places selling them... there's nobody talking about 'em anywhere.

I have transducers bolted to my couches and I run the subwoofer channel to them in my home theater. you feel the bass now as much as you hear it. the brand name is Bass Shakers and they're intended for cars.
