Anybody ever use a Marantz Blimp?

I was searching because I need another one and found this

I have never heard of this. But a zep for $150 from a reputable company, with the dead cat sounds like a very good deal.

That looks A LOT like the first-generation Rode Blimps...with the same (IIRC) rubber-band suspension that Rode used before they switched to Rycote Lyres.

I used that first-generation Rode blimp for like a week (had it for a review); the mounts weren't that great (bands not tight enough to stabilize standard mics...including Rode's own NTG3), and the whole thing struck me as a bit heavy compared to my Rycote Zepps...

So that is a fairly good price for a functional item. But IMO, there's a reason Rode changed the design of the blimps they sell (and maybe make)...

That is extremely cheap for a blimp, and like Jim said that looks like the v1.0 over the Rode Blimp.

I wonder if you could swap out those rubber bands shock mounts for a Rycote one instead? The total price would still be really good, worthwhile considering.

Thanks guys. I'm not partial to the rubber band suspension and I'm pretty sure I could fit the Rycote ones in, I have a full shop downstairs. The specs made it sound fairly heavy, but? I see that it goes more commonly for $199 so that would make it only 1/3 less than the Rode instead of 1/2 price.
