Any thoughts on these headphones?

i don't have any experience with those, but it's my understanding that they're fairly similar to the sony headphones. i noticed amazon has the sony 7506 for $80 so that's another option.

I started to check into them - there was another thread about them - until more than one person said: "Yeah, they're just like the Sonys... they don't sound like them, but they're just like them."

Yeah....people were focusing on the form factor, not the sound quality.

I really like that they come with that short straight cable because that coiled one drives me bananas.... But I need to hear someone with credibility say "I have a pair of the Sonys right here and these sound just as good." before I would put any money into them.

I don't think that's going to happen.

Stick with the Sony MDR-7506.

Yeah, I would like to ditch the coil cable and also to have a detachable one would be nice but I need to research the sound more...

Many of the 'usual suspect' sellers will sell the 7506 for 89.00 USD if you ask and I occatioally see the V6 for $50-60. I've never tried the China built Senal and China manufactured 'copies' usually means corners were cut, so sound and reliability has probably been compromised. Though the detachable straight cable option and sheepskin earpads are attractive.
BTW, Sony has replacement parts for the V6/7506 and are repairable. As I stated, I've never actually had hands-on experience with a set of the Senal.

Interesting. My 7506s completely lost their bass a few months ago. I figured it might be the cable so I took it out and replaced it with a 1/8th inch female jack so I could use any 1/8" to 1/8" cable with it. Same issue persists. Must be the drivers that went bad. But both at the same time seems strange to me.
I have yet to pick up another pair. I ony had that pair for about 4-5 years. So I've become hesitant to get another pair if they only last that long.

Thanks, Rick. BH has the 7506 for $79... The left ear went out on my pair of V6 -- wouldn't know where to start troubleshooting how to fix them...

- Yes strange. 'blown' is probably unlikely since I've had my 7506 sets subjected to unusual high levels on live band gigs when I've mistakenly hit the PFL with a preamp 'cranked'. (In this case, PFL stands for "Pretty F__ing Loud"

I wouldn't know where to start troubleshooting how to fix them...
'- Likely the cable (small thread-like lacquer coated conductors), are difficult to strip & solder.. A whole cable replacement generally requires full disassembly. A new 1/4" or 1/8" plug is relatively cheap/easy though.

Another vote here for the 7506. I run a rental company and everything else comes back not worth fixing. The Sonys last forever and aren't too pricey.

Picked up the 7506's for $60 bucks on CL. Sound pretty much identical to my V6 but for some reason my ears fit better in the cups :)

That's a good deal, too. I noticed they have removable cable -- wish Sony would do that with the 7506...

Yeah, for sure. Before I purchased the m50x, I was uncertain if I wanted a straight cable or a coiled one. That's what made me decide on it. I have to say though that right after I bought them I felt like I was in a bit of cable hell having three cables laying around now that I have to keep track of but they actually do come in handy. One is for using with your phone, ipad etc and then you have two more professional styles, that can screw into a more standard 1/4". Pretty cool. I also was concerned with the wire connection when you're swapping out cables all the time but it seems to be made pretty well. Overall really happy them.

Did you get a straight cable or a coiled one? What are you mainly using them for?

I just wound up with the 7506 headphones which have the coiled cable. I use them to monitor on set/location and on my NLE at home...
