Any Survivor fans? I thought this was the best season ever... but...

I think it is jealousy more then anything else. (as it is 90% of the cause of ill feelings in life)

Jealousy over everything... being beaten, and Russell already being wealthy.

Notice that Erik did a fist pump and made an audible "YEAH!"... rooting FOR Russell a week or two after he (Erik) was voted out... because at THAT TIME... Erik was doing the very same thing as Russell... but it didn't work out for Erik, and he was rooting for somebody who was able to successfully do what he couldn't.

In fact, Erik was a WAY bigger dick then Russell ever was (to everyone's FACE)! Anyone who watched the show KNOWS this already. Erik turned into a steaming pile of moral bullsh*t over jealousy. No smart viewer bought even 1% of his speech based on Erik's own actions and treatment of others during the show!

Had Russell's wealth remained a secret, he probably would have won. My rant isn't JUST about Russell... it's about the show's one real weakness (in my opinion).

Laura ALSO voted against the guy who beat her. She didn't vote FOR somebody. Her's was a vote AGAINST one of the biggest moves Russell made. The ONLY one I don't blame is Jaison... because he was on the "winning" side at the end. It would have been better to have him sitting up there, because I think Mick would have been more mature about the reality of Russell's game.

My ***** is on the other tribe... who was truly beaten 90% at the hands of Russell.

The jury didn't give Russell a dose of his own medicine... the jury voted for the person they were least Jealous of... they voted for the next closest loser... nobody ever bought a poster of Tiger Woods' caddy... and just because that guy got where he got by being smart and talented doesn't mean I'd confuse him with the real champion, regardless of who he HAS NOT pissed off... and I SURE as hell wouldn't give him the title if we could "vote" on the PGA winner. He may stand in the winner's circle... he may belong in the winner's circle... but he hasn't earned the right to wear the jacket.

All ill feelings of jealousy and regret have no place in the final tribal. I'm sick of jealous weenies who can't get over the fact that they were beaten by the very same tactics they employed themselves. The game should be virtually OVER at that point... where an explanation of STRATEGY is admired versus admonished. Russell gave them all too much emotional and intellectual credit... thinking they could sit back and say "wow you really DID think this through further then me... and play harder then me... and so you deserve it". Russell learned a hard lesson about jealousy.

I have had two lady friends audition for it, one won it, (the Guatamla Survivor) and the other one is waiting for the oficial word on the next non winners show that shoots after the Feb 11th show. It'll be good if she is on it, she is a hot model and was in the ROTC and can kick most guys asses, you know the sweet pretty girl type that's one tough cookie, everyone will under estimate her.

Why, are you wanting to audition?

Hmm... I wonder if I'd work as the weirdo middle-aged guy?

I'm a little cocky about my athleticism, but I'm also willing to bet my heart might explode at JUST the right time for ratings week. I'd be sure to work up some drool and spout a bunch of seemingly incoherent plugs for DVXuser as the cameras close in.

"Matt! Matt! Are you OK? Say something if you can hear me!" *smack-smack*

"Wha? Momma? Is that you momma? I was climbing and sha, shuh... uh... tune in for Betrayal fest on DVXuser dot com... uh... momma? Are you there momma?"

After all these years I have just now got hooked on Survivor. So much so, that I am watching the past seasons on YouTube.

After watching the seasons, it is very interesting seeing how different the game is played from season to season. At first Jeff Probst was in the show often..now not so much. Also in the beginning, looked like the producers wanted a fair game, with TRUE survival..no food..if any was given..it sure wasn't much more than a little bit of rice. Also REAL people..as opposed to models..etc.

Survivor is a product and it's all about TV Ratings and money. America likes goodlooking model hotties..so do I. I guess that is why Mark Burnett recruits 75% of the castaways. The middles aged weird guys (gals) come through the audition process.
Yes I am going to audition (deadline is 1/6/10) with the understanding that it is similar to winning the lottery..tough odds.

Wish me luck!

Scott,

Better hurry and get your tape in.

You'll have a good chance if your a cocky abnoxious A-HOLE that is back stabbing and doesn't play nice with others. It makes good tv and is what the producers want for a couple charcters (from what I hear).

Scott,

You do know they get into personality profiles and have psychologist match up people in realty shows that coincide with the results producers are wanting.

There is a science to making good tv, things just don't happen :)

Chip...you are spot on. Quite a few Survivor castaways didn't actually audition for Survivor. They had auditioned for the Amazing Race.

The audition video should be who you really are..a Day in a Life type of thing. Not a rehearsed skit. The psychologists..personality tests..etc will reveal a fake.

I cannot help but think that Survivor (an other reality shows) are not actually "reality". The producers want to know who the viewing audience likes to watch. If you are a fan favorite like Russel was..no way you don't make it to the end. or at the very least..close to the end.

The penalites for breaking the NDA (even years after the show is over) must be servere. I would have thought that someone who has competed on Survivor would have blogged about the entire experience and process by now. What...20 seasons..average 16 contestants....must be well over 200 people that could share what it's all about.

Chip..since you know the girl who won a season..has she ever talked about how it really works..day to day politics..was she recruited or did she audition...etc?

I wouldn't say if she did but you made me realize why they pay out the $1M over a 20ish year term and not a lump sum, it's to protect the NDA's. You talk, no money!

Scott,

The girl who won it (her name is Danny) auditioned. Sent in her tape and it progressed from there.

Yeah, she was the Sports Reporter from Kansas City was she not? I remember she had Chiefs hat on or something.

Also, there are a few interviews done by the contestants usually posted a couple of days after the are voted off and the episode airs. Usually just talk about their expierence, how they were casted, quite a few of them usually are 1st time applying and quite often a lot of them have applied to other reality show, I know Russel from this year had initially applied for Pirate Masters (which was on briefly a few summers ago before being cancelled).

I haven't watched hardly any of Survivor... but I don't think the America voting idea would work out too well.

Aren't the contestants interviewed throughout the filming of the season? Instead of telling the viewers the truth about their plans and whatnot, they would be sucking up and telling sob stories about why they need the money.

Again, I don't watch Survivor, so I don't really know.

The cast doesn't have to know who will be voting until after the show has been shot.
No sure how that would work since someone has to get voted off each week. Also, the show isn't aired when it's shot...that happens months earlier.

For the final vote Blaine at the end, you know, have America decide. I realize they shoot the show months earlier. I know how it works.

Yeah, forget I wrote that. It's been awhile since I read the rest of this thread and forgot the discussion was about the FINAL vote...
