Any Suggestions onGame Development Software?

Hello
I am trying to develop some games for pc and web ..very basic stuff.
I am working on a PC laptop with Wind XP a Centrino P4 and limited memory 750 mgb ram and 40 gig hd .
I have been tinkering with Dark Basic a very old game development program ..It requires direct X .(I have some strange feelings that direct x is a difficult to use aspect of software? or it is becoming part of history? ..i dont know.)
Id like to find something more friendly that has less code writing than this program called DARK BASIC.

I see certain game development programs that have a chain of catagory charts in a sort of system for drag and drop of developed bit maps .

My intention is to do a few arcade shoter games as well as a few walk or fly through search and find games .

Hope you folks have a suggestion .

You could do arcade shooter type stuff in Flash I believe...

If your really want to make games, start of with tetris, tic-tack-toe then work slowly upwards.

I would recommend to dive into C++, and Open GL or DX if that makes you happy.

This first episode in the Delphi Training Series will help you get up and running in TurboDelphi.

TurboDelphi? No such animal. Silly people.

But it's nice to see someone figured out that you don't have to drive yourself crazy with C and its brethren.
