Any Photoshop experts want to take a crack at this?

Here it is for the lazies out there:

That's pretty cool.

"I do not know how they generated this fascinating image and have not been able to generate anything similar in Photoshop. I know it has something to do with 'low pass' and 'high pass' filters, but the details elude me."

That guy is way off, they just used the "Freaky Filter." It's got tons of crazy stuff like that.

I spend 12-14 hours a day in photoshop, and this made me go "whoa - cool"

And yes - there's some "high pass" going on there.

If anyone cares for my explanation of what i think is happening...

There is a composite of the original image blurred mixed with the image run through a high pass and then flopped on top at half opacity...take any grayscale image and run high pass on it and you will see it flattens out all value in shadows and highlights and just defines the detail of edges. So the high pass defines the detail in the large image, but the blurred image defines the values of the original when scaled down (and by scaling down, the sharp high pass detail goes away)

here was my attempt at recreating it in under 5 minutes (given more time i could probably make it work better but this was just a test)

further proving that no matter how good you get at something, there's always more to learn. thanks. this is cool.

John Hudson's not the only one who cuts the sleeves off the DVXUser T-Shirt!

LOL, that's ace!

I have to admit, it did always baffle me how the Hulk's shorts never ripped off with his increased bulk.

Obviously the Hulk didn't have much to start with, "down there". (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Or his shorts wouldn't be able to contain his rapid bulkhood. Poor little guy. But that's what steroids will do to ya!
