Any opinions on Atom Films?

I have a friend who works at Atom Films. He said there's a "good chance" they'll place my short film, The Loner, on their site if his boss likes it. That's a big "if."

Take a look at their site. It's got some cool content.

Do any of you know a reason not to submit it? Do they take posession of your work? Do they claim your first born? Any experiences or rumors would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.K.

AtomFilms.com is good as well as TriggerStreet.com, both are great places to get exposure and feedback.

Double check anything you agree to during the submission process to make sure they don't want to prevent you from showing the film elsewhere.

Good luck on your submission, P.K..

Hey Ex, I've seen some of your stuff before. You are very talented. How much longer 'til DVX Day? ;)

Re: Any opinions on Atom Films?

Thanks Terry! I'm a DVX user vicariously through John. :P

Funny you mention it, P.K. just gave me a link to a screamin' Ebay deal on a DVX...maybe I'll get lucky.

Re: Any opinions on Atom Films?

I've watched tons of shorts at Atom and I would be shocked if they didn't take "The Loner". Better then many on there.

I too would be ultra careful giving your clip to anyone without reading the small print. Since your buddy works there I think you have a bit of an edge in avoiding the big screw though. Ask him outright "what are you giving up?"

Good luck / Keep us posted.

Thanks Dakota. I'll look at the fine print and ask a lot of questions before I let by baby go.

Speaking of, I made some changes to the short film today. I did a few reshoots (improved the color/lighting), tightened the editing, and cleaned up the audio. Also, don't hate me, but I cut the DVXuser chat shot. :-[ I think the character should be playing a corny game instead (Snood). He's a loner he wouldn't be chatting with people. DVXuser is still in the credits though. Any opinions? Am I still allowed on this site?

Good plan if you put it out in the world - It will make more sense to non DVXuser.com people. (but do they really mater in this world?)

Re post the new edit if that's an option (or let us know where it goes up)

Re: Any opinions on Atom Films?

While I was in Las Vegas, shooting a documentary on the 'Modern Drunkard' convention, I ran into a couple guys who worked for Atom Films. We had a lot of laughes, and they were EXTREMELY fascinated with the DVX while I was running around town getting B-Roll of Vegas.

My assessment is that the folks at Atom are all about making great indie movies, period. Although you should always watch your back, legally speaking, I'd sum it up by saying, 'they are one of us.'

Good luck with Loner, that was a great short.

Thanks Terry.[/quote]

Having a comp dedicated to playing vids is great.
