Any of you writers own a digital audio recorder?

Most of you know me here on the screenwriting forum, my main hangout, but today I posted this
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...r-short-film&p=2174317&viewfull=1#post2174317
over on the Audio forum. Not meaning to double post here on dvxuser, so if anybody cares to slide on over to that thread I started. Posting a note here because many of you know me, and nobody knows me over on the Audio section of dvxuser. I need some voices (recorded dialog) to help me on an 8 page horror short film I wrote and shot a couple of months ago, this is your chance to be a (voice) actor and help me out! I have the footage and dialog of my one actor short film, but I need audio for ten other 'characters' that are never 'seen' in the short film, an adventure of Little Red Riding Hood. (I actually wrote this and filmed it long before I heard of a new feature horror film coming out about LRRH.

Anyhow, if any of you writers has a portable audio recorder that can record clean dialog and are interested in becoming the voice of a talking tree or narrator in the short film, please consider. I posted the 8 page script with the lines of dialogue, etc. over on the thread in Audio. A chance to be immortalized in film and have a screen credit! (albeit a short film)

Cool. I also like the English accent. Could work especially nice for one of the narrators (start and end of the story), maybe another minor tree voice so as to not be too noticable as the narrator too; or instead go for one of the major tree characters; your choice. See what character(s) you feel like doing, as little or as much. If you can record to 16bit .wav or .mp3 (.wav preferred) that would be great. I got really discouraged after filming this short realizing I had TEN additional voices needed to finish this short, which I wrote as a one actor shot to make it simple; well, not so simple when I factor in the voices and then I have to do the talking trees (doable though, I already played with that with a prototype doing the green screening and I have several tree faces I purchased that I can GS in my home against neon green cardboard).

If I can get just a few people like you to do this, then I can add in my own voice and that of a few friends to finish off the voices. Long cold winter here where I live, good winter project to finish off this short film. My friend Kyle here on dvxuser is up for doing a couple of the voices, I can do a couple, my friend Tony can do one or two. I just need 2-3 people here on dvxuser to help. My voice stinks, boring, so hoping I can get voices from others, anybody's voice is better than mine, trust me.

Here are a couple of other raw film clips from the short, no audio editing done yet, no music, just gives an idea of some of the cinemetography. Audio you hear is off the T2i camera, but I have separate ADR audio, audio recorded using a high quality Sennheiser lavalier mic, and also ambient sound effects 'room tone', all that yet to be editing in. The actress is a really cutie, perfect for this role. I also have some nice stock footage picked out for the hungry wolves and also aerials of the woods, and lots of cutaways of the trees including ominous and Dutch angle footage to use for green screening in the talking tree faces.

In terms of the trees, will we see their faces and their mouths, or are they off-screen?

Just wondering if I'll need to lip sync.

I have tree face eyes, nose, mouths, several sets, like these
http://treefaces.org/seasonal-tree-faces/
and will be puppeteering / animating the lips and eyes using greenscreening. But I have not done that yet, so I will be doing the syncing, so don't worry about that on your end. Once I have the talking tree dialogue, I will listen to it and sync it as I puppet the lips. I did a quick prototype GS of a talking (motorized) tree face just to prove the concept

Here is a prototype I did, although it was with a motorized face, not the kind I will be using with separate eyes, nose, lips as at the above link, but this short clip gives you *some* idea of what I have in mind, and how a face can be greenscreened to look like it is part of footage off a tree:

i'd like to give this a go. what kind of accents would you like for the trees? you say you dont want too much british, but Windbender feels like he wants to sound a little bit like the Stephen Thorne version of Aslan on this link http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Narnia/Aslan/ The one on the sample you posted sounds mroe like a new york gangster or something (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?) How ethnically diverse is your community of trees? Looks like a fun project.

I am open to whatever I can get. Basically for the trees I picture the main trees (Windbender, Cedrec, etc) being older, wiser, protective of their forest, upset at humans for cutting down their brethren, but also puzzled at Little Red, and ultimately she outsmarts the trees. Give Windbender a shot if you want. I am open to ethnic diversity, sort of parallels species diversity of trees (oak, pine, birch, etc).

Just one question:

"The next time you make your
way through the forest, you might
think differently about the trees--
and to never to mess with a determined
little girl,"

Think you've got a word missing there, or a typo. What do you want it to say?

Should read "... the trees-- and to never mess with..."
