cineform usually slows down playback for me and eventually messes up the normal codecs and stops premiere running all together :| i've installed it 3 times now all with the same outcome. I don't even get near completing the 14 day trial. Tried it on both XP, Vista 32bit and 64bit versions although i'm not eager on fixing it so i just stay away from it nowerdays.
Sounds like you have issue for tech support, doesn't sound normal.
Mike,
While you can now natively edit MXF DVCPRO files in CS3, you are still dealing with the DVCPRO codec. CineForm's main benefits have always been quality through post production.
any codec which allows you to edit the material in AE (or other apps you use)untill the .mxf patch for that comes out later this year is great. once that patch is out as well, i personally woudnt generally need anything else, but it really depends on what your trying to do in post. if your going through multiple renders, then cineform is going to hold you together nicely. personally on my normal projects i almost always just use dynamic link so that i dont render anything between AE and ppro, so the only actual render / generation i have is my final one because i really only use those two apps on a normal film type project and anything outside of that is used to generate first gen materials which once in the pipeline are again only rendered once for final output. but thats not always possible pending what you need to do in post and what your workflow is, sometimes you need to put out some intermediate renders to work with and thats where a product like cineform comes in. its really all about workflow and if you need multi-generation quality throughout that workflow.
