Hi Fellas. I wanted to gauge the general feeling here towards Kickstarter. I wanted to know if anyone here backed the Aviator Jib Kickstarter Project when it was in motion. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/461078637/the-aviator-travel-jib

This was an extremely successful campaign and something that I hope to emulate this September. - It has finally become available to Canadians. I hope to successfully fund my project not achieve over 1000% funding like Nice Industries did. (as nice as that would be)

I am planning on posting my campaign in the near future and want to see if you guys are involved with Kickstarter at all. Thanks!
 
Best wishes Jeremy. Having had a sneak preview of your project, I am thrilled to see that you are ready to go with this.

All - I don't know Jeremy, except from exchanging notes on the forum and a couple of emails. I have no connection to what he is doing, but he was kind enough to preview it to me. What I have seen from pictures is a really clever, exceptionally well made product like nothing I've seen.

Ok, ok, I'm a tease. I promised Jeremy I would not reveal anything, but I had to say something as I am quite excited to see he is getting ready to introduce it. Initiative like this deserves some attention.

Please post a link when your Kickstarter is up.

73.1% of his funding came from people directly purchasing the product. With Kickstarters like this, it's not so much a question of whether we support Kickstarter campaigns, it's a question of whether you have a product that appeals to us enough to warrant our money. From what Paul F says, it sounds like you do, and since you say you're not shooting for the moon with your campaign, I don't think you should have too much trouble achieving your goal.

If you have something that strikes the right chord with someone, they'll be a good candidate to donate to your project.
 
Um.... yeah, to answer your specific question I was a backer of the Aviator when it first appeared on Kickstarter. Great little jib. I've also recently backed Doc's project on Volunteer Dragonslayers, which was just funded a few days ago.

And I've backed.... Well, a number of things.

If you're interested in feedback from a backer's perspective, PM me with some info about your idea. I'd promise not to share the info until you launch.
