I can only find one blip about the single edit version of Kill Bill (from aint it cool news). I would have figured this would have been a bigger deal.

Anyone know anything or have links about possible screenings or dvd releases?

Saw Vol. 1 when it came out and pretty much hated it, missed vol 2, but saw it "pre-street" thanks to muh buddy at Hollywood Video. I like it way more but still wasnt thrilled, and the longer i think about it the more flawed it becomes in my head. So Now i'm hoping that that single 4 hour version might suit me better.

Anyone else have thoughts about vol 1 or 2 or this single cut? (Please dont flame me because i didnt enjoy the first one)

Also, would it be possible to make my own edit using FCP (never edited anything other than iMovie)? Anyone done anything like this? Sound like fun if possible

It defininetly would be POSSIBLE to cut it together yourself...
but it would be ILLEGAL :P

Other than that, 'word around the campfire is' that one will come out...but I haven't heard any official news. Considering that I loved both parts, I can't wait to find out if and when it will be released as one!

I'm no lawyer, but when you buy a DVD, you have the right to watch it - and that's it. Modifying a work that's not yours is illegal. Now, whether or not

a) anyone would find out or
b) anyone would care,

is another issue. But you don't own the rights to the footage, so copying it onto your computer, and modifying it, is illegal. At least as far as I know...

I imagine there might be something about not copying it to my 'puter (although i dont really care lol sry i know) but i still dont really see how editing it is illegal, I mean If i record a movie off of tv, and like, miss some of the middle. I dont see how i can get busted for that.

I mean, I honestly have no idea, if anyone knows I'd love to know why.

Has anyone made their own cut of a movie?

As far as I know, actually, taping a movie on TV is illegal too. I'm not really sure about that, but I think it is. It's back to the whole "average executive not caring" thing. At least that's my understanding.

Also, with regards to the "Kill Bill: Volume Cheesesailor", if you don't show the cut to anybody, I think that makes it less illegal, too. Because it's the propery of Tarantino, or whoever it is that owns the movie, you changing the edit in any way whatsoever, and presenting that as the actual version, is a problem.

Anybody else know the facts about this? I'm talking straight out of my ass here, just out of what I believe to be the case. David, you're a lawyer, aren't you?

But yeah, it doesnt matter, Im just curious about these laws. I dont know anything about this except that yeah, I think the "dont care" loophole overrides. lol Now im getting all excited about doing my own kill bill, too bad no one can see it ;)

If it helps the thread at all, I've been researching it as well, with no luck. But I guarantee that it will come out, put together. Or, if not that doesn't happen (which it will) they will at least put out a two disk set. But I can't imagine that tarantino wouldn't capitalize on the fact that he can use DVD to cut the movie as he had originally intended.

I'd definitely assume itll be as one. And I'm not buying it yet (even though I loved both parts) until there's at least a two-disk set. Some form of bonus features or something, didn't the Vol. 1 DVD only have the trailer or something?

I am so sick of the release. Then the "special" release then the "director's" release and whatever.

I hate having to buy the same movie a million times. so now I never buy it. and wait and wait.

case in point. you know there will be a kill bill set with all the extras. so now i sit without any kill bill's on my shelf until it comes

I hated both movies, the humor just isn't funny to me, but maybe thats because I have an odd sense of humor, or perhaps because I am not sexually aroused by asian school girls covered in gore...

Although i do like asian school girls...


MY CUT:

Fire Cast (except for the asians, which includes Lucy)
Set the main character as a giant flaming school bus

Then the rest of the movie would be of the school bus doing stuff, like:

Shooting at old people

Killing rapists

Dancing

Killing asians

Dancing

Brief pause for completely irrelevant time waster about how the school bus
gets a special weapon (the horn of death)

School bus uses horn of death in a church, making everybodies ears bleed

Dances in a nightclub

Tom cruise shows up and starts shooting a bunch of asians

Dancing

School bus quits film, because Michael Mann > All

Just for the record, I too heard he wants to release a full dvd version, so I'm not buying the dvd's seperately...even though i really want to see it...ah screw it...

I'm off to rent KB2 right now...
