Any ideas why OnLocation AVI footage looks bity in After Effects

Hi

If I capture full HD footage from Panasonic HPX171 using OnLocation, when I bring the AVI into After Effects it looks degraded from the original AVI Footage?

I have preview to full.

Likewise if I produce an AVI uncompressed from AE it looks as if it has lost something from the original even if I have changed nothing in AE.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I use canon t2i to shoot with. But I always transfer my footage to quicktime animation or a tiff document for editing. If you're adding color and so forth I know I'll see degrading if I don't first change to a more friendly format.

The tiff documents take up a lot of space. You could also do a dpx sequence. Haven't used onlocation so I'm not sure if this applies to that.

Just standard - save as AVI2 - not sure of any other settings that are available and user controlled?
