Any Ideas for Smooth Zoom

First, I love my DVX100! But, I'm not overly excited about the motorized zoom function-- it really lurches at the beginning and, in the slowest handle mode, can be a bit jerky.

Panasonic has located the manual zoom pin on the left side (not offering a thread on the right which I wish they had), so that leaves me out as my rig makes that impossible to get to.

What, if any, products are on the market to assist in consistent, smooth zoom?

Thanks,
Joe

Assuming you've already considered the various zoom control products out there like the Bebob line at www.16x9inc.com the other option for going off the servo built into the camera is to use a follow focus device as a zoom puller. Ofcourse, you will not have the threads meshing, so you will need to use a black rubber band between the lens gear and the zoom ring.

Being a technically minded person I took the risk and applied a heavier dumping grease to the zoom ring mechanism, i have to use more force to move it the result is more control over the zoom ring at low speed and better starts and stops. dont try it if you dont know what you are doing!

i use a libec ZC3 zoom control. it works for me, when i have to zoom in and out during a live show. I think you could pick it up for about 100U.S.D
