Any Green Screen Experts?

I Have some footage we shot behind green screen but the camera guy did not light it as good as it could have been. I would love for someone to take a look at the footage we have and possibly help me key it out better then what I have. I can provide samples if anyone is interested. Would be greatly appreciated!!

On the topic, what do you guys use? The built-in Premiere keyer? Or something else like Ultra 2, Combustion, After Effects...?

Keylight is a really good keyer, comes with AE.

For bad greenscreen footage you can use a mask to remove unwanted areas, leaving only some area around the subject. After keying you can apply also a matte choker for the edges.

Keylight rocks. Primatte is good as well though I find Keylight provides softer edges. If at all possible do keying in a program like AE. Keying in Premiere is no fun.

Keylight rapes other keying tools it is truly amazing.

But in the past I shot some green screen footage that upon reviewing proved to be unusable; because of the lighting scheme the top corners were shadowed areas. At first we had the simple solution to just crop the top off but as fate would have it the actor walked into the shot through this area and we could not reshoot.

Solution? A garbage matte. We set key points around the body and animated the mask to fit around his body tightly when in an area of bad lighting and to be relatively loose in areas that were more forgiving.

It was a lot of work but the footage was usable through that technique.
