I'm looking to redesign my company's logo.

The company name is Nightshade Films.

No, there is no motivation behind it. When developing names I just thought it sounded cool.

Maybe I could make it a contest. The wining logo will be chosen as our company logo and credit will be given in all of our films with links back to the winner's work.

What I'm trying to do is create something a little more...."dark" not evil. When I thought of Nightshade I was originally thinking of the Poisonous plant.

:) At one point I was thinking of "Seamore" from Little Shop. An animated logo would be funny where the Poisonous plant grabs some "icon" and swallows it, revealing the company logo.

Then I was thinking the other route at another point in time to have the Silhouette of a shapely woman appear in a window only to have the shade fly up...But I couldn't think of how it would transition to a final logo reveal...Hell, I couldn't come up with a logo at all for that one. But thought it would be remembered.

We all know these good motion logos like Dreamworks, Jerry Bruckheimer, Dark Castle, Spyglass and Universal to name a few. The one thing these are is memorable.

Centropolis. I like that one a lot.

And I really liked the original Tri-Star clip, before it was Sony-fied.

Hmm, I don't remember that one...Was that with the Lion in a Triangle or something like that?

Newline's is pretty effective...Simple but effective. But that's all that it takes. Though, I think that the theme music helps most of them out a lot.

..guys a genius .. a bit on the dirty genius .. ok alot on the dirty genius side for my taste, but man is he funny.

There is one man I would recommend.. Kai. The stuff hes done for DVXuser has been top notch, and Is now on my "real" contact list.

these both look nice. the text is of course good, but the flower needs a little help. .. if possible you should grab an SLR 35mm and run down to a local botanical store that carries the nightshade variety of plantlife if there is one near you.. snap a nice pic, and then have at it with the effetcs to give it the look you want after matting out its surrounding environment.. i'd probably take a small peice of near chroma green foam core with to stick behind the plant when your snapping.. if they ask you what your doing.. just run really fast.

or im sure you could find a nice pic to manipulate on the internet somewhere. just change it so much the the priginal owner would never recognize it..BWAHAHAHAH!!!

best option of course is to get a good royalty free pic.

oh, ..wheres the original? can you post it like KAI at it.. what sort of look are you going for? or, i should ask what sort of impression do you want it to give.. like: artistic, or uber proffessional, slick, techie, futuristic, pretty, ?
