Any Goonies fans?

Re: Any Goonies fans?

HELLS YEAH. I've got it on DVD. The commentary track is awesome. It's the whole cast all grown up and it actually cuts away from the movie at times to show them in the studio.

It also has a really lame scene that they cut out with a killer octopus.

Very much worth adding to a collection.

Re: Any Goonies fans?

Aah yeah. I'm in Oregon and every time I go to Astoria I look for the Goonie house. I've yet to find it. I could always print a map, but where's the fun in that?

I second J Barnes' comment about the deleted scene. That octopus was horrible, even for an 80s film.

I actually loved the nintendo game Goonies 2 more than the movie.
...because I never seen the movie before I played the game.

Next year is the 20th Anniversary and I heard WB is going to re-release it in theatres. There is also some sort of mass union planned for all Goonies and fans to attend.

My dream of doing the truffle shuffle with Chunk remains alive.

Re: Any Goonies fans?

Man, this movie is such a large part of my childhood. I remember seeing it and being so envious of the kids getting to go on a big adventure like that. I own it on DVD and watch every couple months. I'd love to see it released again on the big screen, is there any truth to that rumor?

Re: Any Goonies fans?

Mine's pretty recent. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure if it's an alternate angle, but every once in a while...the picture does an ADO move back and you see the cast sitting in a studio with headphones on watching the film in person with Donner. Everyone is much older, but their reflections are very intersting in terms of the perspective difference between being a child actor and being an adult.

Chunk is actually a sucessful entertainment lawyer now.

WHat's odd is that I just checked Amazon.com and their Goonies only lists a commentary track with Richard Donner...maybe there are two versions out there?

Re: Any Goonies fans?

Perhaps it's a hidden feature? I don't remember doing anything special to view it...but I found confirmation in a DVD review online:

"Commentary with Hidden Treasures
From a production standpoint, this one of the truly most well-produced commentary tracks currently on the DVD market, for the fact that the producers were able to get every single GOONIE kid plus director Richard Donner to participate.

The audio track is a lively affair, as all the participants obviously have fond memories of the production, as well as a camaraderie with each other and a great respect for Donner. Sometimes, given the number of speakers (8!) the commentary can get a bit busy, but the producers help by utilizing a clever device seldom used on DVD commentaries--occasionally, the film frame itself shrinks into a smaller window, to nest within video footage shot of the actors and director at the time the commentary was recorded.

Finally, as with the film itself, the commentary does include profanity (sometimes even commenting with profanity about the profanity of the film) and parents with younger viewers may want to take this into consideration."

Re: Any Goonies fans?

You guys are kidding, right?

Man, this movie must have come at the cusp of my childhood because I didn't like it then and renting it for my boys now I was SHOCKED at the language and behavior of these kids! Ok, so it wasn't for 5 and 3 year olds then and isn't now either... but...

Am I now that old?

It was good to see Chunk get another film role! Even thought it was twenty years later. But I loved him in Return of the King.

I aspire to be the Treasurer of the Goonies Official Fanclub.

I love this movie so much. It's kitchy and fun & the dialogue was realistic and someitmes improv by the kids. Very natural.
