Any good cheap wired lav mics?

I've got a sennheiser G3 wireless, and an NTG-2, as well as a bunch of studio mics, but I'm finding that for an upcoming project, it would be nice to have a wired lapel, since the presenter isn't going to be moving around much, but we'll need wide shots which prohibit getting a mic too close. Rather than using wireless, I'm thinking that the good old mic-wire-mixer solution would be best.

So, with that in mind, are there any worthwhile cheap wired lapel mics? If not, are there any better options for converting my sennheiser lapel to a wired lapel other than the $140 XLR converter they sell?

Take a look at Oscar Soundtech. I have been very pleased with their 801s. It is available with an in-line XLR power supply or terminated for your wireless. I have been very pleased with these mics.

Rode Lavalier with Micon connectors, one for phantom XLR (hard wired use) and one that fits your G3. You have both options then and a great lav.

Quality only hurts once... a good wired lav will outlive your camera by many years.

Trust me, I know all about this. The issue here is that the lav is really something that I won't use that often. As it is the wireless kit I have barely ever gets used, so I may end up just using that and using up a bunch of rechargable batteries. If the adapter for the sennheiser mic were $40 or so than I'd just buy that, but this project has no budget.

you can rent a quality xlr mic for $20/day from any of the major audio houses.

Unfortunately this is a long term project. I'm documenting the writing and recording of an album, so it's going to be a several month on and off type of thing.
