My friend needs a quicktime file to import into protools to work on the score for my movie.

He's working on a mac I'm on pc, I sent my external and pre pro so he can export a quicktime file on his external and import it into pro tools, I didn't have enough space to do so.

He cannot install pre pro onto his Imac, any suggestions to get the movie to a quick time file to he can import it into pro tools.

Also I sent him a dvd copy of the movie but he can't import it into pro tools. It's encoded as a mpeg.

Any suggestions and i hope i make sense.

Were you trying to export a full-res QT file for him? You really only need to export a highly compressed version that is just good enough to use as a reference... that shouldn't take up too much space.

I exported a encoded low res version of quicktime then I tried to export a dvd version on quicktime but it always says mpeg 2dvd and even when I exported it, it's like 89,000 frames or whatever it was it was going to take a hell of a long time.

Right now he has the external with the movie, and a dvd copy of the movie.

Motivations= quicktime and import into protools.

We're trying to get a score I can export it as a quicktime it will take for ever but even when I export it as a quicktime to a external I still have to burn it to disk.

I'll probably just buy another external.

send him a file at 360x240 with h.264 or h.263 on it, or save it at the same frame size and encode it with Divx. You can get Divx files to play on both.

And is there any reason you can't break up the file and render out say 5 chunks?

Or, cant you use a Winrar type system and have it span multiple CDs/DVDs?
