Just wondering if there are any Frezzi user out there who could talk of their general experiences.

Basically when I buy something Im always thinking of dual purpose to get as much as I can from anything:

Want to use this as:

1/ On camera light
2/ Handheld light
3/ small kicker

Full kit can be seen here:

If you have experience with this or a good alternative please let me know your thoughts

Cheers!

First of all, the mini fill is really big, I'd say annoyingly big to have on top of a DVX. I would suggest the dimmable micro fill, which is alot smaller. I own one and here are my thoughts.

spend the extra money for the dimmable version! trust me, it makes a huge difference.

Also make sure you get a dicro filter.

they are great lights and do make for a great on camera, fill, or kicker.

That battery charger sucks! it takes 16 hours to change on of those things!.

I use and recommend the dimmable Frezzi mini-fill with the flip-up dicro filter. These two features make it usable all the time. You really need the dimmer - you can dial it down to whatever fill you need. Otherwise you will blow out your talent news-style or have to wrestle with diffusion (and purchase barndoors) in the field. As far as using it with the DVX, we used it mostly on a BetaSP camcorder with the on-board NP-1 batteries. On a DVX you will have a large battery hanging off it. I don't think the unit itself too big for the DVX100, but having to clip the NP1 battery to your belt or gaff taping it to the tripod is a bit awkward. I used it on a DVX field shoot and I just stuck the NP-1 battery in my front pocket, as the cable is plenty long enough - not a problem if you have big pockets. PM me if you'd like to buy it from me, I just sold the BetaSP camera so I am not using it much anymore.
This is the one I have:

Sounds like a start can you give me some more info: age, usage etc. Do you have paypal? Price?

Do you also have the battery pack?

Cheers

Thanks for the info guys.

Have the dimmable Mini Frezzi with Kool Lux battery belt.
Asked eslewhere here about an AC adapter to make it more useful as an off camera light, eg: top or back light stand mounted.
Anybody?

Finally tracked down somebody at Frezzolini.
Have ordered 50 w power supply. $206.00 Can
This makes the Mini Frezzi more versitile.
Battery belt only lasts an hour and a half at the most.
NOT long enough for some shoots.
I find I have not been using it as an on camera light, because I don't do that much run and guns stuff
Have been using it for back, top, hair light,----kicker as you say.
You will need one more thing,---a pin to attach it to a light stand to accept the Mini Frezzi.
You will love this light. Get at least the difuser filter.

I have one and the only thing I dont like about it is the short battery life. It dosent last long at all not even an hour. Honestly speaking if you don't have couple of reserves, it will not be good for any occasions lasting longer then one hour. It also takes a long time to recharge.

I tried using it on couple of my docs and gave up after running out of power quickly. It really is good for "news" and things like that where the clip is like 15-20 minutes.
