any feature films solely targeting online distribution?

hi,

i've seen a lot of "web tv" series trying to gain a foothold in the online media frenzy. there are also a lot of short films online that only appear online (most not generating/wanting income).

as i've been researching the economics of online-video production, i was wondering if anyone knows of a feature film solely intended for the online market (with expectations of financial return).

i believe that Home on YouTube premiered online, but i'm not sure that it was indended for financial gain. the film seemed more or less like an exercise in public relations for the financiers.

any thoughts?

thanks, October Black.

i just checked it out. apparently:

M dot Strange has stated that he wishes to release the film on the Internet rather than in theaters as he will be able to retain all rights to his work, and any profits made thereafter (DVD sales, merchandise, etc).

i think his main focus is to sell physical media, though.

still interesting.

thanks again.

A film called The Tunnel will be releasing direct to torrent later in the year. I have a write-up on the film and their plan on my new blog.

They seem to be a cool bunch of guys. But they are raising money before to monetize the release as opposed to releasing and looking for a return.

very cool, Mattykins.

i liked this:

It makes sense, it's revolutionary, and it's pretty cool. Piracy will never really end. So rather than fight the pirates, The Tunnel is preemptively embracing them.

thanks.

We are The Strange by Mdot strange.

I finally saw this one day and it's...interesting. I can't say I didn't like it, but you really have watch it and it's not for anyone whose can't stand noise or things flashing before their face. I enjoyed it actually but wow. It's something to see.
