Any experience w/ "Anton Bauer Stasis"?

Wanted to see if anyone has used or owned the Anton Bauer brand Stasis support system? I am looking for something to make the dvx steadier and more shoulder mountable, is this one any good, and are there any better/cheaper ones? Where to find them? This one is $499 at B&H... For that price then does it make sense to just invest in one of the $1200 junior steady cam systems or are they s much of a scam as i suspect? Any advice? Thanks!

I got to try one out at a technology fair last week. It had a sony pd170 on it. I liked the feel of it and it did make things alot steadier than handheld. Me being a cheapo I am going to try to make one for myself. Bottom line is I liked it but cant afford it.
