Any DVD tutorials on acting for film?

Just wondered if there is a DVD tutorial out on acting for the screen . Our cast has a lot of stage experience but little screen, and a teaching tool would be helpful.

Not sure if this will help you but here it is:

How much experience does the director have? Depending on your situation you might consider bringing on an acting 'coach' who has experience. Just make sure the lines of authority and communication are clear to everyone.

You might want to have at least a few rehearsals and/or table reads which you can tape and review. If you have some actors who are a bit 'over the top', you'll have a chance to reign them in before you're actually on the set and burning time and money.

If your actors are good actors, they'll pick up the techniques that are different from stage work. The inexperience of the cast may dictate your shooting schedule to some degree.

If you can, start with scenes that may better give your cast a chance to get accustomed to the process without requiring them to over tax their abilities and experience levels.

Best of luck with the project.

Probably too late for your project, but have you cast pick up a copy of Michael Caine's "Acting in Film." It has some wonderful pointers in it.

I only found snippets on Youtube. We are 3 weeks into shooting and the core actors are doing a great job , so looks like training won't be necessary. Maybe because they are getting paid?

Mainstream, I think it's great that you are looking for some advice...it shows that you care...but I am going to make a point here that I've been trying to make to directors/filmmakers for as long as I have haunted these forums...the content is your foundation...spend the time to educate yourself in the story/writing/acting because the camera is the tool you capture with...There is a craft involved with it too and sure, people can do some amazing stuff with the Camera and with editing, but thinking of the writing and the acting as a last minute thing is like building a house on a shaky foundation...A movie is a story told in pictures...the better the story, the stronger the movie...and the better the actors, the better they will interpret that story...If you are amazing with direction and cinematography, that gives you an awesome platform of which to unleash your skills on now...

I hope you continue to study these elements and wish you the very best in your project...

Best,
Stan Harrington
