Any DC, MD, or VA Vegas 5 Users Here?

So, Vegas+DVD just arrived and I am confused beyond all imagination. I am used to using cheap (imovie and moviemaker) and simple editing software, and unfortunately Vegas is not simple.

I have read the manual twice and I am still confused. I would love to take Douglas Spotted Eagle's course, but it is so far away and I have editing to do now. About the only thing I have been able to do effictively, thus far, is capture. :'(

If anyone is interested in providing me with a tutorial to get me started, I'll provide the food and beer. If necessary, I'd be willing to barter and offer legal services in return for your tutelage.

Please help.

Hey, local Marylander her, Salisbury MD to be precise. Out of curiosity, where do you live?

I am an owner of Vegas and I found some of the stuff they have on that awesome software to be quite intimidating. The thing that helped me out the most with the software was the actual help icon in the computer. They have this nice little thing called what's this? it's an arrow pointer with a question mark by it. When you select this option, you can click on anything on the main face of the program and it will tell you everything you need to know about it. But if you are having trouble with a certain thing, go to the help dropdown box and click on contents and index. In there, it tells you of everything you can do in Vegas and it will tell you step by step how to do it.

Anyway, I'm not the god of Vegas so I couldn't tell you how to do everything there is but, that help box is a magical navigator that will guide you through the terrible land of trolls and soul sucking succubus'. So, if you have any questions, just ask and I'll try my best to give you the rundown, as I'm sure many of the nice fellows on this board will do.

So, stick to it and DO NOT GIVE UP on it. Vegas is sweeter than a lollipop given to you by a Sara Machelle Gellar full of lust once you get to know it better.

Thanks. I'm in Silver Spring, myself. I have been playing with it all day, but I still feel like I'm at ground zero. I will spend this weekend trying to get to know "her" better.
