Still new and learning the FCP ropes...so far so good. Been searching for workflow threads on here and elsewhere but I'm yet to find an answer to my specific question/s. I understand that a generally-used workflow goes something like this: Capture/import-->Organize-->Cut-->CC-->Grade-->Export, with maybe some slight variations of this.
My confusion kicks in at the CC and grading stage.
- CC entails both correcting for luma and chroma right? I just finished a "Ripple-Training" tutorial on CC in FCP and the instructor "corrected" both luma and chroma on each clip in the timeline as he moved along. I have seen conflicting advice elsewhere on the web where people insist on doing luma first to match all clips in the timeline before working on chroma. What would YOU advise?
- At what point exactly is grading done? My imagination tells me that since grading involves giving an overall look to the whole piece, it would be done after *lock-down* (not sure that's the correct term), to the whole sequence in one pass. Just how off is my imagination, if at all it is?
I am working only in FCP for now. No color, MB, motion or anything of that kind.
Thanks for any help.
