Another Long Continuous shot

I think it's a crane with steadi-op getting off then back on. When he walks downstairs, it is obviously a cut.

I think Mikko would know best how they get steadi-ops in and out of a scene. I've seen different methods. The big question is "where is the crane/lift sitting", but we never see back into that area. we see the water so we assume there cant be a crane sitting there.

There is a waitress that walks by the entire frame that could be a wipe to a separate shot...anything that passes frame completely is a good indication of an FX shot.

I want to see the Choppercam decapitate some actors sitting at that table.

Kyle: I thought that same thing, and it could be, but I dont see it. The steadicam operator actually starts walking at that point - at the second cross (0:42). I just dont think there's a cut.

Amazing shot.

As Devon already said, the steadicam operator is on a crane and then steps off. At :40, when the waitress walks by, is not a transition. There's people all around. The only time it could have transitioned was at 2:40, when the wall is full frame while going downstairs.

The movie Serenity has a really nice Steadicam shot at the beginning. They walk through the entire space ship. It looks seamless but there's a hidden cut when they go from the second to first floor.

That's pretty slick, especially it being a dream sequence, kind of flowing and such. Very cool.

Another cool continuous shot that I can think of is the "steadicam onto a crane" shot in Raging Bull where DeNiro is followed down the tunnel and then the camera moves high above the ring. One of my all-time favorite films in the whole ****ing universe!

We can't forget the master Hitchcock and his film Rope. Honestly, never seen it, but it's been talked about, how it was shot all in 4 takes, but as it passed by dark objects, that would be a cut so that it seemed like the whole film was one seamless take. Don't know if there were any challenges in terms of filming it (i.e. crane to steady-cam, etc...), but it's something worth mentioning.
