Another (easy) external monitor question. Quick...

Just picked up an NTSC monitor (not a great one, but better than nothing - Sony PVM-14L1)

And I'm wondering what the best way to hook it up would be. Here's a description:

"The monitor is equipped with 2 composite and Y/C inputs and an integrated speaker that enables users to monitor audio. PVM14L1 utilizes a digital comb filter that enhances the luminance/chrominance separation to reduce cross-color interference and color noise."

So, it's got S-Video inputs (y/c), and BNC inputs (for composite?). As of now, I'm going to have to go through my capture camera, which has the composite out.

Do I get a composite to S-Video, or composite to BNC adapter? I'm guessing S-video would be better...

Go composite to BNC. It’s a cheaper adaptor you can gat at Radio Smack. IF you used a little cable adaptor to break the video signal back out to (y/c) S-Video it will not look any better. The purpose of S-Video is to keep from using cheap components to convert the signal to a composite connector. Which would be self-defeating if you use a cheap adaptor to break the signal apart.

I would go with component connector. You won’t see a difference. And don’t let those Rednecks at Radio Smack tell you that you need to buy the gold connect for $3.00 more. Just get the cheap one, and go buy a Big Gulp with your change.
