another 24pA question

hi

I shot f6 and captured with capture/imput selected to "advanced" pulldown removal. It looks fine in playback (ive never really noticed a strobe or anything when watching 24p or 24pA on a TV or monitor) but when i go frame by frame, every 4th frame is doubled. isn't advanced pulldown removal supposed to delete these frames? did i do something wrong?

ok, i figured it out, kinda...

So i did shoot and capture right, i think, but when i went to sequence presets in Audio/video settings, its set to NTSC 48khz instead of NTSC 24. Fine, so I changed it, but the framed are still there. So I opened a new project and chnaged it to NTSC 24 and copied the clips from my other timeline into the new one, and still the frames are there.

Any help?

ok so it turns out that when you change sequence presets, you have to move the check mark, not click the preset you want and click OK...

soooo, i opened a new project, CHECKED NTSC 24, and copied the contents on my first imeline into the new 24 timeline. and after I rendered it, the frames were gone! I just copied all the footage from the browser windeo into the the project and continued.

but now ur telling me that it should be 23.98? why is that and what is the coarse of action for me now?

Just as standard video is 29.97 and not a true 30fps, 24p in video is actually 23.98.
Note that some software just shows the rounded or default numbers so you don't have to deal with the details.

ok, so just so I'm clear on this...

I shot 24pA, removed the pulldown in capture, started editing in the defualt sequence preset, copied and pasted that timeline into a 24 frame timeline, rendered which appeared to work removing the one extra frame, and now I can copy and past that into a 23.98 timeline?

Is this ok? really don't want to restart editing from scratch.

sry to bump, but the only thing worse than starting over would be to finish and then find out i have to start over...

so again, I'm working on a 24 frame timeline now. will this not work on a DVD or something? and if so, cn i take my 24 frame timeline and convert it to 23.98?

thanks

Taking 24pa and removing pulldown on capture yields a 23.98 clip.
If you have a 24p sequence create a 23.98 sequence and then copy (select all, copy) from the 24 timeline and then paste in 23.98 should work.
In the future just set your presets to 23.98
