Animation software?

Anyone know of a free animation software easy to use? Basically I want draw on paper, scan and import it, then use it as a ref to do more drawings and then animate it.

Anything out there?

I'm trying 'Pencil' but just isn't working for me. I think If I can draw 3 or 4 key positions, then import them and do simple commands like walk, turn, change POV, etc. Not looking to do epic animation here (Troy), just above cartoon and anime levels.

That one looks great! I downloaded it, but then it said I needed to download other support software, then more and then more. Jimminy.

Looks like what i want if I can get it somehow.

I'll be honest I've tinkered with many a animation software (2D and 3D)

but for simple hand drawn animation you could just use a simple whiteboard and webcam as described below:
