animation presets

I created my own animated background and saved the effects as an animation preset. I'm having a couple of problems with it though.

a) While the preset shows up in Bridge, a preview doesn't appear like the other animated backgrounds. All I see is an icon.

b) If I double-click the preset in Bridge, nothing happens. The only way to load it seems to be by going to the Effects and Presets menu and selecting it in After Effects.

Any ideas?

My only guess would be to find the file in explorer and then change the file association. I don't know if that would do what you want though. I wish I could give you more help...

It's a weird quirk in AE, that's for sure. I'm not sure that the program supports the ability to preview presets in Bridge.

Can you create an animated .gif? All of the effect examples I see in Bridge are animated gifs. It may be possible to export from AE as a gif and then use that as your thumbnail for the preset.

I believe you can only preview the presets that adobe ships. User made presets don't have a preview. I think this is as designed.
