Animate Sine wave (dynamic, not static wave)

I want to do something like this with AE. I mean only the sine wave oscillating, without the particles, etc.

I have tried with AE wave warp, but the wave it generates is static, it doesn't undulate.

I also tried to look for something done with trapcode particular or trapcode form, but I din't find anything.

Any help, please?

Thank you very much!

Simon.

But even moving forward, the wave is kind of static. Changing the height of the wave will change the the overall amplitude of the wave. In the example I gave, the wave wiggles changing the position of the crest but not the overall amplitude. (Of course that the amplitude changes along the clip, but independently of the waving).

i just tried it myself in AE, when i draw a line with the Pen tool(fill:none, stroke: 7), going from the left to the right and then apply the wave warp effect to it (settings changed: sine, height 33, width 720, wave speed 2) i get the same effect, the only weird thing i found is that you can't interpolate the wave speed from one value to another, only by adding keyframes in between those two values, no ease in - ease out...? What am i missing there?

I understand now. It is an optical effect related to the perception. With wide waves it is possible to "see" the effect and with a short wavelength the eye follows the waves as a moving object.

Thank you very much!

While I wouldn't buy it for this, Digieffects Delirium has a Visual Harmonizer effect that does sine waves with lots of options (way too many options). You have to animate it yourself though. They used to give this one effect away for free, not sure they do that anymore though, since I bought all their plugins years ago.

No problem, happy to help :)
a simple solution for animating the wave's speed: add the wave warp as usual (no keyframing of the wave's speed in the effects panel) then pre-compose this layer and time remap it...
