and... the biz is slowly going back to normal

I was gonna say that it appeared that the OP touched a nerve with people on here, more than likely DSLR shooters, but I refrained… ; )

LOL . the politically correctness will destroy the planet, I'm telling you :)
like when asked if a dancer gets the job because she's pretty you answer "absolutely not! it's the inner beauty that counts!!!".

see? same thing.

This is what I'm talking about.

This thread was designed to tweak people, apparently DSLR enthusiasts, and definitely those who like shallow focus.

There's just no legitimate purpose to that.

If you want to make a thread about the advantages of lighting for separation over shallow focus, then that's totally legit. But doing it to bash -- which is clearly what you're doing -- that's not.

I don't say that as a DSLR user -- I've never been one -- but as a moderator. Some things don't fit here. Tweak threads are among them. Long-time members know this.

no no, I'm grateful to the D90 , I will be grateful forever. if it wasn't for the first DSRL used to take stunning videos like never seen before then we'd be shooting with some new $7K XL1 today. I'm absolutely positive about this.
my post was about the end of the DOF used to impress , but to impress everybody except the audience. and in all fairness that DOF excuse doesn't belong to DSLR videographers only, today.
take it as an incentive to explore our masters, and to wake up from the bokeh illusion that became boring like $ell (lately).

OP I'm with you, but maybe for different reasons.

I'm REALLY just glad the "My 18-year-old nephew can shoot our project for $200" philosophy has died down a bit since 2010.
