Anamorphic with Monitor

I've decided that based under the circumstances, my video next will be shot with an anamorphic. After doing some research, it seems to me that focusing might be a bit of a "nightmare". I don't think a CRT monitor will fit the bill for now, hence the question:

Will an ebay 7" LCD that's commonly used in automobiles do the trick for now? I've seen someone on here with that setup, but can't find the thread. Any help is appreciated.

Considering focus is your primary concern, a cold hard look at the native resolution of any
monitor would be a good idea. Just because a LCD monitor is larger than the one on the
camera, does that mean that it actually will be sharper than the one on the camera?

I'd find that out before buying into any monitor, regardless of price or tech: CRT v LCD.

After some further research, it seems as if with focusing, staying below z90 and having the aperture stepped down for zoom shots will do the trick. Focus is a concern, but to see the unsqueezed composition, I'd have to use a 16:9 capable monitor.

Since the anamorphic still hasn't been delivered to my house, how vital is it to have that 16:9 view ?

Neat, I didn't know Century had their widescreen adapter out! Man, either I'm forgettful or I've been out of the loop with lens choices.

Nope--they never actually made the "adapter" but they do make the widescreen eyepiece and
widescreen magnifier for the lcd screen... but don't count on a Century anamorphic lens.....
