Anamorphic squeezed in sequence window, why?

I am capturing footage shot on the DVX100 in 24p standard mode with an anamorphic lense in FCP 4.5. I am capturing in DV NTSC 48 khz anamorphic. When I drag a clip to the sequence timeline it is squeezed with black bars on the sides of the clip. (not letterboxed). I have checked 16X9 anamorphic in the sequence preset. Why wouldn't the clip fill the window to the full 16X9 ratio. I also tried capturing clips in 4X3 mode (non-anamorphic) and get the same result in the sequence window. Sending footage back out to camera results in the same squeezing with black bars to the right and left of frame. Anyone ever run into this problem before? I've searched the posts and found nothing that address this specific problem. Your help would be appreciated as I am reluctant to continue capturing unitl I know that the finished product will be 16X9.

Thanks!

Re: Anamorphic squeezed in sequence window, why?

As a follow-up: I've been succesful in getting the sequence to show a clip in anamorphic 16X9 by unchecking "anamorphic 16X9" dragging the anamorphic clip to the sequence timeline and then going to the sequnce settings and checking "anamorphic 16X9" But if I try to drag a subsequent clip into the timeline it is squeezed. I can repeat the above process over and over for each clip, but this can't be how FCP 4.5 is supposed to work. Can anyone see a reason for this? Or, as a work-around should I just make the sequence non-anamorphic, edit the video and then switch it to anamorphic when I am done editing?

Thanks again for any help you can give. I am flummoxed.

Go to the Browser and expand it. Does the anamorphic column have a check mark in it for the clip that you are working with? If not, then click it to put a check there and try it again. Was that it??

Sanford you're my hero. That did the trick. I'm still curious as to why anamorphic wouldn't be automatically selected if I captured the clip with the anamorphic preset, but I can now continue with my project. Thanks a bunch.

I have used the anamorphic preset for capture as well but it never tagged the clip as such for me either.
