Anamorphic question

I have the DVX 100A camera. I was testing my anamorphic adapter a few weeks ago and it fell off the primary lens into the grass on my lawn. The back of the lens has some smudges. Is there any way I can safely wipe these smudges off?

Another question or statement: Why is this adapter made so that it doesn't screw in more securely on the primary lens? I read that if you tighten the setscrew too much it will eat into the plastic lens lining on the primary lens and you can't take it off.

I find this frustrating. I'm ready to shoot my principle footage for my electronic cinema movie. If there is another anamorphic lens that will fit better, please let me know. I'm trying to avoid purchasing a HD camera now because 24p HD 720p or 1080i 24 are not supported by a number of NLE systems as of this posting as far as I know. Thanks

Hi Kim. Firstly the ana lense should fit tightly enough not to fall off. I have used mine many times and there is a trick to removing it. Sometimes you will loosen it up first then starting turning and nothing. The trick is to tighten it up enough so it grabs, start turning and once its screwing loosen it off and screw the rest of the way.

There is no other ANAMORPHIC LENS for the DVX.

As for the smudges a lens cleaning cloth with do the trick.
