Anamorphic Lens Problem?

Hi all,

I recently purchased the LA7200G anamorphic lens adapter. I have read the instructions and have attached and it properly. I output the video to a 16x9 TV. For some reason the image appears to be very soft. I have gone through the focus range using the TV as a guide still even at its sharpest it is still a little blurry. When I detach it and just use the standard lens it is very sharp the difference is noticable. Thanks so much for all your help!

Best Regards,

Re: Anamorphic Lens Problem?

I think you need to either have the anamorphic checked by someone familiar with them or find another example to compare to. I purchased two early samples from Japan for evaluation and found that one was much better than the other due to optical mis-alignment. We disassembled them both (they were both dirty inside) and in the re-assembly process re-aligned the elements vastly improving the "bad" unit.

One question tho: do you have this problem at all focal lengths or are you testing at full telephoto only? In my opinion, depending on several factors, the performance at full tele on the DVX100 is marginal at best (and I think if you search the site you will find discussions on this point)

Re: Anamorphic Lens Problem?

Well at all focal lengths I get this blue edge along the edge of someone's face or other objects. I assume this is misalignment? Thanks so much!

Re: Anamorphic Lens Problem?

I've taken my lens apart. When you do you will see that it is not all that complex and easy to align. Just be carefull when you handle the lenses.

Hi,

I don't know whether or not I will open my lens but how do you align it? Thanks so much!

Re: Anamorphic Lens Problem?

The rear element is seated on a small lip at the back, the forward element is also seated in a shallow depression, if for some reason they are not sitting properly, even as much as a mm, the resulting image will be off. Lens is quite easy to take apart.

Added: A blue halo on one side could also mean defective optics.

Re: Anamorphic Lens Problem?

hello

I would like to ask you, if you know the difference (if there is!) between: AG LA7200G vs AG LA7200

thank you

Re: Anamorphic Lens Problem?

If that question is for me, I don't think there is a difference.
