Anamorphic Lens... DOP

I was wondering if the anamorphic lens is capable of creating a shallower depth of field? Anybody know?

Uhh, you don't have to tell me i'm an idiot... i realize the topic heading says DOP instead of DOF.

Almost impossible to get a shallow dof with the anamorphic lense. I guess one trick is to shoot through something that is virtually at the end of the lense, like the back of a persons head in a two way conversation.

And that is the irony of the anamorphic adapter, which I shoot with exclusively...harder to focus, but huge depth of field. Go figure.

It sounds like the anamorphic adapter provides a disadvantage to the overall camera if you aren't 16:9 crazy.
