Anamorphic lens and promists.

I searched thru the posts but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Can you use the screw-mount filters (ie promist) with the anamorphic adapt or do you have to go with the mattebox?

If the mattebox is a must (it's beyond r budget) can a reasonable softening be done in post (I've got Vegas others have Avid)

And if we can use the screwin, the reigning thought is around 1/2 black? Is that correct?

Re: Anamorphic lens and promists.

you cant use the screwin with the anamorphic adapter because it adds space between the adapter and the lens so the "stretch" is distorted. You need to use a mattebox, or tape in 4x4 filters into the front of the box (its almost the perfect size)

Softening can be done in post to a degree, in fact the new Vegas comes with Magic Bullet Looks that have filter presets such as White promist and Black Promist.

Re: Anamorphic lens and promists.

Just buzzed through your thread.
Yep, it looks like we're stuck. Don't have time before shooting to start modifying adapters etc.

Remember the good old days when you could just use sheer panty hose.
It didn't do anything for the shot, but it sure made me feel pretty ;D ;D ;D
