Hi guys
I recently purchased one of those old 16:9 adapters made for the first dvx100. I've tried putting it on my HVX200 with surprisingly good results. I'm getting it repaired as I write this.
I have some questions whether this format of shooting will produce suitable pictures, or if the loss in optical resolution is worse than cropping.
since it is a 16:9 adapter, the final output of the camera would be somewhere near 2.40 to 1. My question is simply whether this result would fare better than a cropped 1920:800 (1440:800) image from the stock lens.
Although it isn't the good old 2:1 anamorphic flare across the screen, it does have some of the texture. And I absolutely love it!
Has anyone else tried this?
Is the SD glass of the anamorphic not contrasty enough for HD?
I know anamorphic on 35 has less depth of field than regular 35, but how do you do the math on a 16:9 stretch and a 1/3 " sensor?
if I shoot 1080 the output is somewhat near
2560 : 1080
If I downres this to 1920:800 do I reduce some of the loss in optical sharpness?
Thx
Mads
