Anamorphic goes whacky!

I have been importing 24pa anamorphic footage into FCP via my Sony deck. I am on a G5 Dual. Capture and timeline are both set to Advanced pulldown, 24pa, anamorphic. Sometimes when I drag to the timeline, it's looks correct, other times it automatically distorts to -33%. Very odd! These are pieces of footage all captured at the same time, mind you!

I have trashed prefs, zapped pram, rebuilt, etc, etc. Anyone EVER have this odd problem?

My understanding is that your settings don't need to be set for anamorphic unless you're working in true anamorphic, which the DVX is not.
An anamorphic sequence will distort since the media is 4:3 with a matte.

Hey I'm curious about this as well as I seem to have a similar problem. My understanding was that the capture preset had to be set with anamorphic turned on since Final Cut would not automatically recognize the widescreen.

So, I've set my capture to 23.98 anamorphic turned on. Do you think it is the sequence settings that are throwing us?

I believe the only time you would turn on the anamorphic setting of your timeline/sequence is if you are shooting with the anamorphic adapter or the DVX100A's squeeze mode.
