I captured clips i shot on a DVX100in letterbox mode( not squeeze) and when entered in the timeline and external TSC monitor they show up anamorphic( top, bottom and sides trimmed off) , but played thru the viewer theyre 4x3 which I want....how do i change the time line footage to 4x3?

Your description is a little tough to understand... but here is a suggestion.

On the top toolbar of Final Cut, click the SEQUENCE bar, then click SETTINGS.

The settings window will open. You will see a box with anamorphic beside it. My guess is that box is checked. uncheck that box and your sequence will go back to 4x3.

Important note: If you have your clip in the timeline when you change it, the clip will remain unaltered. You'll need to delete it then drop it back into the timeline.

this is a 4:30 video thats already edited/cc, the whole nine....i need touncheck anamorphic, copy, then delete and paste into a new timeline?

Hope you read this before deleting anything important.

Is the box in settings checked anamorphic? If so it thinks that anything in that timeline is anamorphic.

So if you happen to say have your entire movie clip after clip after clip etc. cut in that timeline. Copy the entire movie.(if you click the letter T on your keyboard 4 times when the mouse is over the timeline 2 arrows pointing right will appear. Then click on your very first clip at the start of the timeline and it will highlight everything after. Make sure no timelines are locked on either video or audio or they won't copy.)

Create a new sequence that does not have the ana box checked(do this in audio video settings), then paste your entire copied clip into it. You should now have the movie set up in a 4:3 timeline.

That way you don't have to delete anything and risk a screw up and possibly lose a bunch of work you did.

my only problem now is the bands on the left/right sides of video...only in the canvas....the viewer shows correct look of letterbox....also on my monitor i have to place it in 16x9 view to see correctly, but only when monitoring the canvas....the viewer shows correct4x3 aspect.
