anamorphic converter

How exactly does the anamorphic converter work as far as shooting. Is it as simple as installing it onto the camera, do you need to have special lenses for it or is it a single working entity...basically if i get one do i need anything else to use it properly.

The LA7200 is simple enough to install on the camera, but it requires a fair amount of understanding to achieve good results. You have to consider that for any given focus distance and zoom setting, there will have to stop down the camera's aperture to achieve usable focus (any anamorphic lens has a different focal plane in the horizontal and vertical axis). There are also the issues of a mattebox and method to attach filters in front of the adapter to consider.

The adapter can allow you to achieve the best resolution possible at 16:9 aspect ratios, but there are additional costs to its use (both in terms of equipment, necessary light and camera operation).

I use one all the time and can't imagine working without it, but be prepared to invest the time and money to make it work well for you and your projects.

You can't use any other lenses with the anamorphic adapter. Also, you can't use any filters between the adapter and the camera's lens (hence my mention of a mattebox for filtration in front of the adapter).

Since the 7200 is a "zoom through" type adapter, you can still use nearly all the range that the DVX offers. Having a 1/3 wider field of view (in the horizontal) axis, you wouldn't really even need a wide angle adapter. The "telephoto" capability of the DVX with the anamorphic adapter is just slightly less than the DVX on its own, but not enough to really make much of a difference.
