Anamorphic capture setting questions

Hi everyone. I've got a couple of questions regarding capture settings in FCP. This is my situation: I recently shot a wedding and my brother-in-laws rock show using my DVX100B and a consumer level Panasonic 3CCD camera (the 320 I think) as my second camera. I had the DVX set for 16x9 (but not in squeeze mode - I will from now on!). i had the second camera set for widescreen as well but apparently it only does this as squeeze mode- it doesn't give you the option of which "widescreen" method you want.
When capturing the various footage to FCP should I use the NTSC anamorphic setting? Should I only use it for the footage shot in squeeze mode? If so, can I use multiple capture settings for footage used in the same timeline?
A general question about the way DVX handles widescreen: Am i correct in thinking that the "squeeze mode" is the more authentic setting and that the setting of putting the black bars in is just a way of faking the look, essentially using a matte like FCP has in it's "Effects" menu?

The issue with squeeze vs letterbox... squeeze mode is actually a quality loss as it is squeezing pixels and then pushing them back out. Letterbox uses the full pixels with no distortion therefore a better picture quality. Yet, not so much that you will notice TOO much.

How to handle this:

Here's what I'd do. Just capture it. It will all work out in the end.

Create a 16:9 sequence and start editing. After you are done, take all the 'letterbox' footage and scale it up to 133.33 percent. Then you'll have yourself a 16:9 sequence/movie.

Good luck,

CaptM
