Anamorphic Adapter Alternatives?

Maybe for your budget! Maybe I'm just shopping in the wrong places. I guess I can go without having true widescreen in my features for a while.

Dear DammitJanet:

My point was that for an anamorphic attachment for the DVX100 the price is very reasonable. It is not possible to manufacture and market something for a lot less.

I am an expert on optics and attachments, not cameras and editing options but I know from the discussions I have seen on here that there are a number of ways to achieve 16:9 with decent results for DVX100's besides shooting anamorphic.

Well, the cheapest alternative is "squeeze mode". Or stretching in post. Other than that, the Panasonic anamorphic is the only choice.

Bill:
how would I achieve 16x9 using a mini, micro, grerrilla 35 is it possible to get 16x9 with primes and 35mm lenses or not
and second I saw a clip a while back named Italia, it was wide appeared to be anamorphic, but it also had shallow DOF, so is it possible to get shallow DOF with the ag-la7200?

thanx

I wasn't doubting you at all Bill. I'm glad that there's an expert around.

So is the adapter the only way to get "true" 16x9 or is there some DIY method I'm not aware of?

I would like to know... if you get the adapter and like in my case I have the DVX100a, (meaning I cant see the widescreen result on the VF or LCD on the DVX itself) then what should I do... should I get an external LCD and will that show my true 16:9?

Which LCD do people recommend anyways....?

Cheers guys,

The entire image will appear on the 100a screen however it will appear squashed. Any widescreen LCD will let you see the full widescreen image, one option I have seen is the use of a portable widescreen DVD player. I use a 19" widescreen monitor.

see Barry's answer above -- that's pretty much it.

Well, you *could* get one of those plastic fresnel stick-on lenses you see on the back windows of vans and trucks, and stretch it over the sunshade. You'd have to experiment to see how far to stretch it to get the proper aspect ratio.

And the quality would be very...low.

Hi Barry. I am using a Canon widescreen adapter for the HV20 . It was originally for film cameras..
Shouldnt there be a 1.33x anamorphic adapter for 16mm or Super 16mm that we could use for this too ??
