Anamorphic 7D

I have been experimenting with anamorphic myself. I use a Century 1609 with 1.33x squeeze. (a 4:3 to 16:9 converter). A compromised design like the LA7200. But it only requires you to use the taking lens focus ring. Using a dual focus system is near impossible on the field when you are trying to capture a scene when everyone is tired and wants to go home. using a costly tokina +0.4 diopter it is perfectly sharp enough to feed optical signal for full HD recording. Its not possible to get clinical sharp images from these lenses but I guess thats the point. The organic 'gluing together' the lens does to the picture cant be created in post processing. its more than the aspect ratio. its the science of how the glass sees and distorts the subject matter. remember that though you may not lose much light in the glass, the lens will need to be closed down slightly to obtain anything resembling sharp. ie. my 28mm f2.8 is usable at f2.8 (with the diopter), but becomes lovely at f4 and at f5.6 it is stunningly sharp. a landscape/distance shot in low light is harder to achieve than without the anamorphic adaptor, but when it is done right, with the right light it cant be beaten.

on a side note. i bought my century adaptor for 20gbp. the expense of the tokina diopter was 150gbp. I would not for one second pay the going rate for the century lens. madness if you ask me! especially as you need the costly tokini +0.4 diopter to make it usable IMO

ps. be sure to view Kostas's lovely video showing benefits of diopters. certainly the best documentation of the subject

^ nice. have you solved the issue with that horrible line in the bokeh of the cinemorph with your design or did you just shoot that video within its limitations?

cinemorph filter uses only one line on the filter so the line in the bokeh become obvious. I scratch the hell out of the flare filter so that the line in the bokeh was not obvious(the overall image became softer though)
What bugs me was the refraction between filters, same thing happen to the cinemorph filter, which cause two layer in the image(like the traffic light at the tram station, there's two "T")
