Hey gang! Listen, I have a NON DVX question. I hope you don't mind.
I just purchased a Surround Sound system for my TV/DVD player but am having some difficulties. For starters, I did not pick up a "Home Theater System". I purchased the Logitech-z5500s. Normally, they are used for the computer. However, I have two models below these for my computer and they sounded so fantastic that I wanted to get a slightly larger set for my TV. By the way, they do sound awesome and are only $257.00 at Newegg.
I have a Big TV that supports Surround Sound. I have a DVD player with a coax jack as well as an optical jack. And, I have a Time Warner digital Cable box that has a coax jack.
Well, at first, I was only able to get Surround Sound with movies. So, the Surround Sound with my DVD player worked just fine. However, I could NOT get Surround Sound with regular TV. I assumed, (correctly) that there was a problem with the DIGITAL OUT port on the Cable Box. They guy came out today and switched boxes for me, now it works. However, it only works on Digital Signals. In my area, many of the BASIC channels, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, etc. still get broadcast in an analog signal. My speakers do not support analog signals. Only digital. Channels 100-155 do sound great though. You never can have too many Home Improvement channels in Surround Sound. ugh.
Now, and thanks for bearing with me, my question: Is there such a thing as a converter that can convert the analog signal into a digital signal so that the Surround Sound feature works on the analog stations?
Thanks so much for any input!
