An Examination of: Rokinon Manual Primes

I agree. Great little set for the price. Sure they don't compare to high end primes but neither does the price.

Hit the nail on the head. FWIW Timur, that music vid you posted isnt viewable outside the US. Got another link?

I've been wondering if it would be worth selling my old Nikon AIS primes for something like these?

Any thoughts on that?

If the nikons are in good condition, keep em.

These lenses are great for people starting from scratch. I bought them to test them out really, and because i keep my PL glass on consignment at ARRI CSC in NY, i wound up keeping them just cause its convenient to have fast decent primes for testing and small low budge projects. Pulling focus on them is hell on earth. On the 35mm for example, the difference between infinity, 30', 15' 12', 10' and 8' is about 1/4" on the follow focus. Ugh...

I wonder how they match up with the Zeiss ZFs. I have Duclos modded 85mm Zeiss, which I love, and the 50mm (at Dulcos now) which is OK. I want to get the Zeiss 35mm 2.0 but the Rokinon is such a bargain... I wonder if the Rokinon will match?

Thanks for the link. That was really helpful. If I were starting from scratch I might go for the Rokinon but I'll stick with the Zeiss. I don't need the extra stop so the ZF 2.0 will be good for me
