An Audio/Editing/Final Cut Pro Question

Hey all I have a question regarding audio in FCP. I have a shoot coming up and its the first short film im shooting live audio on. I am shooting using the HVR-Z1u and recording audio using the zoom h4n. Now I am recording the audio separate from the video track and planing to sync later using a clapper board and matching up with the waveform thing. Now this is where my question lies;

When I match the audio clips to the images (i.e when the clapper board closes), is there a way to just permanently link the audio to that particular clip. I'm guessing if there was After I have done my batch capture of video I would have to go through another process of syncing it all up then begin with cutting...

I really don't know the logical way to do this because I don't want to have to sync up the audio every time if i wanna use a different portion of the video clip later on...

I hope that makes sense :)

appreciate any help you can give me

In final cut pro, if you have the video and audio highlighted, just push Apple + L and it will link them together.

Cool! But if I go through a process of linking all my audio in the timeline by doing Apple + L can I move the newly joined clips back into where the original clips go? Or If I've already saved it will it just permanently be joined from then on.

You will have 'joined' them in a sequence. You then need to use that sequence in the following edits. Or you can 'render/export' out that sequence then reimport it as a stand alone clip, I suppose...

Oh, yeah, set the sample rate on the Zoom to 48K...

You can also drag those joined clips into a bin and drag them into another sequence. They are really joined for the project not the sequence, so any sequence in that project is fine.
