Hello everyone.

I am purchasing a used DVX 100A from my film professor next Tuesday, so I figured I might as well get the necessary accessories for the camera now.

Here's what I am probably going to buy. I am seeking the infinite wisom of you guys to comment or suggest anything else:

Bogen / Manfrotto 3011N Tripod Legs (Chrome) with 3433 (501) Pro Video Fluid Head - Supports 9.9 lbs
- $260.00

And I'll probably get a few 83 minute tapes as well.

Any feedback would be great!

If you can, save up a little more and get a 503 head and some better sticks (ones that lock in place with a snap rather than a twist) like this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...s&Q=&sku=353189&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

I think that if you're only gonna spend $260 on a tripod, you might as well only spend $100, since the quality wont be different. But for $500 you can get decent entry level stuff.

I've also heard the 83 minute tapes are problematic; do a search and you should find some in depth discussion on it.

Yeah I'll second the get a better tripod remark. A decent fluid head and sturdy sticks make a world of difference. I like the bowl mount heads myself for leveling. Never can get the legs just right for me. Or only spend 100 on a cheaper tripod like Derrick said. Save your money...

I'm already tight pressed for cash and if I were to spend any more money on a tripod, it could probably only be around 100 more dollars. Does anyone else have any cheaper suggestions?

*Update*

My friend who also owns a DVX100A showed me his tripod. I tried it out and was thoroughly pleased. It's made from plastic but seems very sturdy, the head isn't that bad and locks into place pretty damn well, and it's light. Even better is the price: 150.

I might as well get this and use it as a temporary tripod and save up for something bigger. Whaddaguys think?

i have a crumpler "voomiverse" it fitted my dvx102b and all my other stuff. it water proof. it gives me a life time warranty. and when i am not using it for my camera. i just take out the mesh cage with all my gears inside it and use it as a normal bagpack. it comes with a laptop sleeve too.Best of all its really funky looking, not like the other camera bags.

go here to check it out. http://www.crumpler.de/?page=details&product_line=575

I've been a Crumpler fan for the last 10 years. i've got 6 bags from them and counting.
